Wool Sculptures

Wool Sculpture is a new art form developed by Raven, combining the tools and basic techniques of needle or dry felting with the methodology of clay sculpture. Starting with a basic wool "pod" made by needle felting a basic shape, Raven then builds the piece up layer by layer just as you would with clay but using the felting needle instead of pressure from her hands. The result is a sculpture that is more solid and integrated than you would get by simple needle felting without resorting to wire and other internal framing seen in a lot of needle felted work or the water used by many to get smooth surfaces. Using Raven's techniques the size limitations of most pure wool needle felted pieces are no longer an issue.
